See the Drawings, Collage and Assemblage Works by Dominant Dansby at MANA Contemporary Jersey City Spring Open Studios
“My drawings are my lifeline. My training and meditation, the process forward, stepping and accepting my individuality. Art is an infinite expression of self that never runs out of space to fill over. Fear, hope and happiness alike. I try to invite all vulnerable states into my practice. I create art with the assumption that I’m being directed by much of the same energy that directed the jazz greats who created the complex riffs that fill my studio during my breaks.” – Dominant Dansby
Dansby brings a strong foundation in drawing and formal discipline to a practice that ultimately privileges intuition, rhythm, and sustained engagement. His work occupies a space between structure and improvisation, where abstraction becomes a means of organizing perception rather than illustrating it.
